Please review the Scholarship Bylaws for complete eligibility requirements, scholarship limitations, and other program details.

What events can a scholarship be used for?

Can I request assistance with lodging?

Yes. Applicants may request lodging assistance as part of their scholarship application.

If lodging is requested, please reserve a room at the less expensive UMCA conference hotel option.

Why is a Municipality Consent Form required?

The Municipality Consent Form confirms that your municipality is aware of your application and the associated payment and reimbursement process.

Does UMCA pay for my hotel directly?

No. Your city or municipality must initially pay for the approved lodging expenses. UMCA will then reimburse the municipality for the scholarship-covered expenses.

Please coordinate with your municipality before applying to make sure this process is understood and approved.

If I receive a scholarship, should I wait to register for the conference?

Depends! Please follow the instructions provided with your scholarship award regarding registration, as it is different depending on which event you are receiving a scholarship for. Scholarship recipients are responsible for making sure all applicable conference registration and lodging requirements are completed.

What is required to apply?

A complete scholarship application must include all three of the following:

  1. Scholarship Application Form
  2. Essay
  3. Municipality Consent Form

Incomplete applications may not be considered.
